A New Space, Uniquely Yours
By Jill Cousins
If you haven’t updated your kitchen in more than 15 years or so, you truly don’t know what you’re missing. It’s not just about replacing old appliances with new ones and getting rid of dated cabinets, countertops, and flooring. It’s also about creating the kitchen of your dreams.
At S&W Kitchens, project designers like Lindsey Schwartz are dedicated to doing just that by transforming your kitchen into more than just a functioning workplace.
“Once we remodel a space for our clients, they always express that they wish they would’ve done it years ago,” Lindsey said. “They’re so happy to have everything the way they want it. It’s a joy to be in your kitchen after you thoroughly think through all the organization and colors and styles. We’re creating a space specifically for you and your wants and needs.”
That’s just what S&W Kitchens did recently for clients, Carolyn and Jeff Brandsema. By remodeling the couple’s Cocoa Beach condominium, S&W Kitchens transformed the kitchen into a spacious, modern place that was perfect for their lifestyle.
“Their condo wasn’t that old, but the color scheme and style were not what they wanted,” Lindsey said. “They wanted a more contemporary style, and since this is the condo that they are retiring in and they want to live there for a long time, they wanted to have a space that was uniquely theirs.”
The kitchen was revamped by removing all the walls and relocating the appliances to the exterior wall to make room for a large island, complete with built-in cabinets and plenty of storage space. Textured laminate slab doors added a modern touch to the floor-to-ceiling cabinets, along with beautiful quartz countertops and backsplash. The cabinets also featured roll-out trays and a pull-out trash bin and spice rack.
Adding functionality and style, designers built a customized column wall to showcase an exquisite Chihuly glass sculpture and several stunning glass vases. The columns also double as a chase area, tastefully housing the kitchen’s plumbing and electrical wiring.
“The clients were really happy, especially with the functionality,” Lindsey said. “Sometimes we do simple updates; sometimes we do very elaborate designs. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is that our clients are happy and thoroughly enjoy their new space.”
