Hot and Cold
Indecisive Spring Weather Patterns
Despite Tampa Bay’s average temperatures and humidity levels rising as spring attempts to wash away the winter chill, occasional cold pops will continue to upset the otherwise mild weather trends we will see in the coming months. “Cold fronts will bring brief periods of heavy rain, gusty winds and rollercoaster temperatures through March,” ABC Action News’ Shay Ryan explains before reassuring us that we “can expect this to come to an end in April.”
Temperatures will rise as high as 80 degrees ahead of springtime cold fronts’ arrival to the Tampa Bay area before following them out 10 degrees cooler. Threatening to join the fronts on their journey are severe storms, damaging winds, isolated funnel clouds and tornadoes. Shay advises residents to “clear their yards of debris and trim trees to help reduce the chances of property damage when these storms move through the bay.”
Another way to prepare for whatever spring may throw our way is to learn about the many ABC Action News tools that enable Tampa Bay residents to stay current with the latest weather forecasts. Opening and closing your day with live news, traffic and weather reports, ABC Action News has you covered around the clock, whether from the comfort of your home or on-the-go. Their new self-titled app, for example, provides residents with the only non-stop digital news stream as well as the most accurate seven-day weather forecasts using Titan Doppler Radar. Likewise, their Storm Shield app turns your phone into an emergency weather radio, sending you critical, location-based alerts.
“Other than the occasional cold front, spring is usually a pretty dry and mild season for Tampa Bay,” Shay affirms. While the weather may prove to embrace spring’s song of change, residents can rely on ABC Action News’ dedicated team of meteorologists to stay informed on what to expect.
