A Timeless Classic Kitchen in Orlando, Florida
Timeless and classic not only describe the kitchen of the National Association of Home Builders 2018 New American Remodel, but the entire home. Being an estate home with a historical background, a delicate balance of traditional and modern was needed to create this timeless design that complements the architecture of the home.
Signature Kitchens collaborated with the project’s team, consisting of Nasrallah Architectural Group, Farina & Sons Custom Builders & Remodelers, and Gribble Interior Group, to not only ensure the kitchen design was an appropriate blend of traditional and modern elements, but that it also had the functionality for the modern home cook.
The kitchen features charming but subtle details such as a combination of beaded inset and frameless cabinetry by Wood-Mode Custom Cabinetry. Using a color palette that includes gray undertones, the kitchen lends itself to a more transitional style. All the appliances are fully-integrated, allowing the cabinetry and design to take center stage. An abundance of storage solutions, including drawers for cookware and flatware, a base pantry pullout for spices, and full-access base corner cabinets, were not overlooked when working through the space planning. The molding details feature clean, simple lines that complement the original 1937 home and blend nicely with the new additions.
The master bath is a special space, evoking a serene, spa-like feel upon entering. A vintage green color with gray undertones was used with the antique mirror, which again, takes the design in a more transitional direction. With hutch wall cabinets to the countertop and drawer tiers below, there is more than ample storage space for everyday and personal items on each side of the vanity. A sit-down makeup vanity provides additional storage and makes getting ready in the morning that much easier.
The utility room has been designed to function not only as a space to do laundry, but as a secondary storage space, a pet center, and space for the homeowner to tend to her beloved orchids. A beaded door style provides this space with a cottage coziness that is complemented and modernized with the square edges of the door style and transitional moldings.
The end result of this project is a design that achieves the delicate balance of traditional and modern while providing a functional kitchen that will remain timeless and classic.
