Tailored to Perfection
High-style storage with dramatic detail and everyday ease
Some homes make an impression the moment you walk in, and this one certainly does. Set against a lakefront backdrop, the residence reflects more than beautiful architecture. It reveals the care, patience, and personality that shaped it over time. The homeowners spent more than a year planning every detail, and that thoughtful approach carried into each room, including two custom spaces designed by Closet Factory Orlando that feel both highly functional and deeply personal.
For designer Katie, the project was a joy from the beginning. The couple had a clear point of view and a genuine appreciation for design, which made the creative process especially rewarding. Their home is stunning, though what stands out just as much is how fully it feels like theirs. Every choice appears intentional, and every finish seems to belong. That sense of identity became an important guide as Katie designed a primary closet for a fashion lover and a separate studio tailored to the homeowner’s creative work.
The closet itself has the presence of a luxury dressing room, though it never loses sight of how the space needs to work day after day. Cabinetry rises all the way to the ceiling, creating a dramatic visual effect while also capturing valuable storage overhead. Mirrored doors bring light into the room and expand the sense of scale, while darker finishes give the space a richer, more distinctive feel than a traditional white closet ever could. The palette feels sleek and modern, layered with a touch of industrial edge through black accents and balanced by organic elements and stone details that soften the overall look.
Fashion was central to the vision. The homeowner wanted a dedicated place where his clothing and accessories could be appreciated rather than simply stored away, and Katie responded with a design that balances display and protection beautifully. Certain shoes are showcased almost like art, while handbags remain tucked behind doors to keep dust at bay. Lighting was another priority from the start, and its impact is unmistakable. Integrated illumination adds drama, highlights the wardrobe, and gives the room a warm, polished glow that makes everyday routines feel a bit more indulgent.
Practicality, of course, was just as important as appearance. The laundry room sits adjacent to the closet, so flow and usability had to be considered carefully. Katie placed the hamper strategically and paid close attention to how the homeowners would move through the room, ensuring that the finished design would support daily life as effortlessly as it supports the home’s aesthetic.
That same thoughtful balance continues in the second custom space, a studio created for the homeowner’s YouTube channel. While distinct from the closet, the room still feels connected to the home as a whole. Deeper tones provide contrast and depth, while small drawers and adjustable shelving offer flexibility for storing and displaying products under review. The space is polished and purposeful, designed not only to look beautiful on camera but also to function seamlessly behind the scenes.
Katie, who has been with Closet Factory for nine years, brings a blend of creativity and practicality to every project. She developed a passion for organization after getting her own closet done by the Closet Factory team. “Having a system and a place to put things made my entire life easier, so I love bringing those systems to stay organized to my clients’ homes, because I saw what a difference it made in my life.”
That combination of design sensibility and real-life function is what makes this project so successful. More than a closet and more than a studio, these spaces reflect the way thoughtful design can elevate daily routines, celebrate personal style, and make a home feel even more complete.
