The Floor Cleaning Experts story started in 1963 when Tom Workman’s grandfather opened his business selling floor cleaning equipment. Tom’s father and his best friend, Bob Witcamp, purchased their first cleaning machine from his grandfather in 1973. Bob also played a key role in establishing the Institute for Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, which sets the industry standards for cleaning and restoration. In 2005 Bob Witcamp helped get the Floor Cleaning Experts started.

            While the business started with cleaning carpets, Tom’s own journey took him into the world of technology as a computer consultant. But as fate would have it, a deep love for music (and the advice of his opera teacher, Maestro Mario Lorenti) brought him back to the family business. Tom studied music with Maestro Mario for over 17 years and found his calling in combining his passion for music with the meticulous work of floor restoration. “If you’re not doing what you love, find what you love and DO IT!” he recalls his teacher telling him. This love for his craft shines through in every project.

            Today, Tom brings a rare, operatic approach to floor restoration. Whether it’s travertine, marble, or Mexican tile, each surface is treated with the care and artistry it deserves. “Restoring a floor is like performing an opera,” Tom says. “Every floor is unique, and each one presents its own challenges. It’s about figuring out the right solution, like a composer creating a masterpiece.”

One such instance involved a marble floor that had been gouged and scratched, appearing nearly beyond repair. Yet, with patience and artistry, Tom transformed the floor into a breathtaking sea of glass: smooth, flawless, and as beautiful as the finest opera performance.

            His skills don’t just come from years of experience; they’re enhanced by a lifelong commitment to artistry. “When you combine the expert knowledge of a floor restorer with the passion of an opera singer, you get something special.
