Realizing Their Florida Vision

By Ilyne Hayes
Relaxing at the smooth granite bar with cold drinks in their hands, Shane and Samantha Jacobson stared beyond their pool to the green mangroves across the sparkling waters of the canal. They enjoyed the peaceful view, watching the activities of the tropical birds that call the mangroves home. This is what they had imagined their life in Florida could be like.

Back in February, 2019, they had purchased this house because of its location on a finger canal that leads into Tampa Bay, knowing that it was going to need a major remodeling. They spoke to many builders and contractors before deciding that Premier Outdoor Living & Design would be the right one to help them create their dream outdoor kitchen and living space.
“After we moved in, I wanted to rip out the entire lanai and start over,” Shane explained. “I really leaned on Premier Outdoor Living & Design to come up with ideas. They were great to work with.”
The Jacobsons were also very impressed at how well they worked with, and sometimes around, the other contractors and workers that were hired to take care of different parts of the remodel, making certain that their plans coordinated with the schedules and plans of the others.
“I especially appreciated how up front they were about some changes that I suggested,” Shane said. “They listened carefully to my ideas, were very fair about any price changes that had to be made and didn’t try to up sell me.”
Shane and Samantha are also delighted with all of the outdoor kitchen appliances that they provided. Shane loves all the features of their new Alfresco grill, including the smoker and rotisserie.
The All Pro Stainless refrigerator, side burner, ice maker and storage cabinet make him feel like a top chef as he’s searing the sizzling steaks and pouring icy drinks. The commercial grade Trade-Wind 66" heavy duty 22-gauge stainless steel vent hood, which has two
three-speed fans, allows Shane to adjust the blowers to match the amount of smoke his sizzling steaks create, which makes for an even more delightful al fresco dining experience for his guests.
Samantha relishes the personal touch that she had them add to the design of the stunning cedar ceiling over the kitchen. While shopping for some fun coasters, she had found coordinating 12" square tiles of a fish and a seahorse and had them worked into the ceiling design, adding a bit of whimsy to the gorgeous kitchen area.
Today, with the remodeling complete (except for the boat dock that should be ready soon) Shane and Samantha are living the Florida dream on their newly-extended 2,600 square foot lanai. They are excited to have this large new space for their family and friends to gather for freshly grilled meals, get-togethers, and pool parties. In the meantime, the Jacobsons are happy sitting quietly at their new bar, cold drinks in hand, watching the sunset over the mangroves, knowing that their vision for this home has been realized.
