Clearly, a Leader in the Glass Industry

Out of the stacks of lauds and awards that have been given to MY Shower Door (MSD) over the years since its inception in 2003, Bill Daubmann, co-owner of the company, is most excited and proud of two of the most recent: His son, Keith, Vice President of MY Shower Door, was appointed spokesman of the Glass Industry’s trade show, Glassbuild 2021 by Glazier Nation, which is the world’s largest glazing network. The second honor they received was that both Bill and Keith were asked to be on the National Glass Association’s Standards Board.
“We are going to be on a committee to write the standards for best practices in installing safe shower doors,” Bill said. “It’s such a great honor and responsibility to serve on this committee, because the standards we recommend will be adopted by glaziers across the nation, which in turn will make their products safer for consumers.”
Several factors led to Bill and Keith being asked to join the NGA’s board, one being the sheer number of glass shower doors that MSD has manufactured and installed (over 80,000 to date). The exposure they have received throughout the industry for revolutionizing the design, manufacture, installation, and marketing of their shower doors and hardware has also earned attention.
“We have worked hard to innovate hardware that ensures a safer experience,” Bill explained. “No one else offers these designs. Our pivot hinges are designed so that it is impossible for glass to slip out. Our sliding shower doors have safety bumpers, so that the glass won’t shatter if the door is slid open too roughly. We make a special hanger for our sliding doors that distributes weight more evenly, so that the glass doesn’t sag.”
Their commitment to innovation doesn’t stop with design and manufacturing. To the Daubmanns and MY Shower Door, customer satisfaction is paramount, and with that in mind, they created MY Shower Door University. They are the only glass shower door company to employ full-time trainers. All of their installers must get certified in this intensive course, which teaches them how to handle the glass and the best ways to install their products. Their training also covers protocol for going into customers’ homes.
Another factor that has led to the rapid growth (nine Florida locations to date) and success of MY Shower Door, and has earned the respect of the NGA, is that MSD is the only shower door company that has its own manufacturing plant here in Southwest Florida. This means that “the buck stops here,” so if there are any issues with the shower door or the installation, there is no third party for the homeowners to deal with. MSD stands behind everything they do.
The Daubmann’s efforts to help other glaziers improve their products and services is the main reason why the NGA asked them to participate in the Standards Board. Keith has been using his vast following of over 22,000 people on LinkedIn to promote excellence in all facets of the glass industry.
All of this, plus MY Shower Door again being named one of Inc. Magazine’s 5000 fastest growing businesses in America, (for the sixth time), clearly makes them a leader, if not a star, in the glass industry.
